What are the best guitar strings?
I've only played since last summer, and I got new strings. I have an acoustic first law (it has the form dreadnot) and I play / practice about 2-3 times a week for about 30-90mins. Which brand of strings are the best (if it helps, I play a Fender medium picks)? Also my aunt for my electric guitar starter kit (we missed the Christmas stock). Which guitar is better to start with a Fender Start or Epiphone (it formed as a sort of beginning ... but I think it is a SG or something)? I was planning to go with another First Act, but I heard their electric guitars suck (although the acoustics sound surprisingly great!).
Congratulations playing catch with the bug. You should be proud of yourself for showing this level of involvement. Believe me, your progress will be much faster and enjoyable. Strings - Gibson, Martin, D'Addario, Elixir. Stores can do the installation for a nominal fee. Nobody string maker is best for all instruments. Each of my instruments have their preferences. Picks - a number of independent stores let you buy individual guitar picks. Go buy a handful and see what feels best for you. I want to use Fender mediums in the large and the tear drop shape. I've also used quarters, poker chips, broken glass. Fender Squire or Epiphone SG - as one poster mentioned, always sit and try them out. You should be aware of: 1. Weight - You can comfortably handle. People have complained about sore shoulders and neck of electrical lug around. 2. Balance - I have guitars that were so unbalanced that you spend a lot of effort your company played in the neck. This an unnecessary distraction. 3. Playability - string action or the height of the string to the key is important. You must be able to finger chords and notes without cutting your hands. The good thing is all the electricity can be set to suit you, so be sure to ask.
