Finger-picks instead of fingernails for classical guitar?
I have a nylon string classical guitar Alvarez. I try to finger picking a brighter sound. I know that the most serious fingerstyle guitarists their fingernails grow long and pointed, but I honestly believe that it is gross and I work a job where I need a lot, so I do not want to do. I've also heard that his clumsy fingers grabs. I try to get an idea of how easy to use finger picks, or if someone or some experience with these alternatives would recommend has. I know he uses steel cross, but I would sound like this guy. https://www.dougsmithguitar.com/bio.htm
It sounds obvious that you are not going to try Carnegie Hall to a kind of classical guitarist, so I think it is good to do what you want to experience the freedom of making music as you want. A true classic guitarist Use NEVER would finger up like he wants to be "in contact" with his music. However, there are many people with great musicians who mix jazz classicial or another and create beautiful sounds. If your finger grabs, you are not going to a real classical guitar but you can type some great classic sounds. Very probably, people will probably still appreciate your music, not only you will be highly respected in the basic classical circles. I thought of something else too. Your beautiful classical guitar will get scratched if you use cream of any kind. If you want items, get a different use of guitar so it will not ruin the surface. If you have a lot of money on a nice guitar, should careful what you touch. I think it is up to you what kind of music you want to pursue, how high you want to climb on the musical ladder and to decide how much interest you what traditionalists think. By the way, Doug Smith is FABULOUS! From the sounds of it, I think that with his bare fingernails, but his style is pure classic.
