There was a time when if you wanted to learn guitar you only had 2 options. Number one is the hope that a good teacher who knew what they were talking about and were not selfish and try number 2 to teach yourself.
The Internet has changed the scenario considerably. Information and tutorials abound in the current web. There are even websites that offer free lessons via video. But if your old school and want to learn from a book, let us look at the pros and cons of the case.
Pro
• Lessons from guitar books usually full of information and usually fairly easy to understand.
• The subject of guitar playing is generally fairly well covered.
• Guitar Book are quite well over on the basics.
• As you progress your way through the book that they tend to cover the advanced techniques.
• At any point you are satisfied with the level you can play to just stop the lessons.
• If you want you can get in theory books you practical exercises to be strong improve your performance.
• Some examples of guitar guides people tend to make mistakes and they also show how to correct them.
• If you're a person capable of learning by yourself guitar books are a very affordable alternative to an expensive guitar teacher.
• There is no lack of resources for finding guitar books as you find them in any music store and they are readily available online.
• You can learn at their own pace in the privacy and convenience of your own home.
As in any situation in life as there are pros than cons. The next would be that the list of disadvantages.
The Cons
• It is a fact that is proven time and again that people who buy guitar books cover to finish them on a shelf collecting dust.
• You need a motivated with individual patients can make use of theory.
• If you are a person who is easily distracted you might have trouble with the book method.
• If you're like me I have a hard time learning to read, because I am bored. This makes it difficult for me to focus and attention.
• Guitar Book Fair are simply not that fun.
• Sometimes you need a clear cut example for the section on books and not just provide that.
• Use a book of learning will not provide you any interaction as you would get from a teacher and you will not know if you improved or not.
• Use of a book on your own with anyone to help you if you get stuck.
The drawbacks sound pretty bad, but there are people learning guitar from books and they do it very well. But frankly, not everyone will. Each individual will have the call on whether to learn guitar from a book to make is for them or not.
