Which brand is better for an acoustic electric guitar, Ibanez and Takamine?
I am looking to buy a new guitar, acoustic and electric I've narrowed to two. One is an Ibanez and a Takamine. Is one of those brands better than the other / better quality? People in shops always just tell me that depends what you need ... but that does not really help!
Let me first say that I have the acoustic guitar for over 10 years. By 'play' I mean not a few hours a week. I play professionally and with other professionals. During those 10 years, I've pretty much played most brands of acoustic guitars from Taylor, Gibson, Martin, Breedlove, Takamine, and Fender, etc. When it comes to acoustic guitars, I'm both a lot of knowledge and experience to play. ... With that said, dollar for dollar you will sound much better, playability, features, and quality of a Takamine than an Ibanez. One thing that you want to stay away from Jasmine, which is lower end Takamine's guitars. They sound are good and decent features, but they are not as good as an original Takamine. Takamine is known for their steel and acoustic guitars, like Taylor and Martin. Ibanez is more famous for their electric guitars. Do not get me wrong, Ibanez makes some nice sounding acoustic guitars, and especially their more expensive models like the Artwood Series. But Takamine's in the same price will be much better. Here's a little experiment you can do. Go to your local guitar retailer. Take a Takamine guitar you've been looking and looking for some 5-10 minutes. Find an Ibanez guitar at the same price range with similar features and plays well. You'll see what I'm talking about when I say that Takamine will be better! If you look the Takamine guitars, make sure you have a solid top! A solid top will sound better than a laminated sheet as solid wood resonates better than plywood. You should also make ensure that the guitar sounds almost identical whether connected or disconnected to an amplifier. Look and play different body styles to see which one more comfortable for you. I personally like a Dreadnought and NEX body styles. The NEX body style has an exclusive Takamine. If you want, let me know what Takamine models you look at and I will tell you whether I I played that particular guitar. If I did, I give you the pros and cons of the guitar. I hope this helps:)
